Condition

Customer statement:

Fault message in instrument cluster: “Electrical system fault: currently restricted. Journey can be continued” in combination with a yellow/red battery symbol or “Electric/electrical system: fault. Please contact workshop.” in combination with a yellow/red battery symbol (Figure 1).

Workshop findings:

The following event memory entry is logged under diagnostic address 0001:

P0E2D:Internal Control Module Hybrid/EV Battery Monitor Performance

 

Oneof the following event memory entries is logged under diagnostic address 0021:

P0A1F00:Battery Energy Control Module Malfunction.

P060400:Internal Contr. Module Random Access Memory (RAM) Error.

P062F00:Internal Control Module EEPROM Error.

P060600:Control module faulty.

P061000:Control Module Vehicle Options Error.

P151A00:Control Module Vehicle Options Error.

Technical Background

If the event memory entries listed under the workshop findings are logged in diagnostic address 0021, this indicates a hardware fault on the 48V battery.

Production Solution

Not applicable.

Service

1.

Check with the diagnostic tester whether the following event memory entry is logged in diagnostic address 0001:

P0E2D00:Internal Control Module Hybrid/EV Battery Monitor Performance

If the event memory entryP0E2D00is logged in diagnostic address 0001, check diagnostic address 0021 for the following event memory entries:

P0A1F00:Battery Energy Control Module Malfunction

P060400:Internal Contr. Module Random Access Memory (RAM) Error

P062F00: Internal Control Module EEPROM Error

P060600:Control module faulty

P061000:Control Module Vehicle Options Error

P151A00:Control Module Vehicle Options Error

If one of the event memory entries is logged under diagnostic address 0021, work through the entry with Guided Fault Finding. Follow the instructions given in Guided Fault Finding.
