Workshop findings:
To comply with technical requirements, the engine must reach a specific temperature range within an extremely short time. To ensure this, the mechanical coolant pump is covered after a cold start, which means that coolant does not circulate in the coolant circuit. Once the required temperature is reached the cover is removed, and the coolant then circulates via the heat exchanger for the passenger compartment; this leads to a rise in the interior temperature. Under certain ambient conditions, however, coolant circulation in the “large” coolant circuit can lead to a drop in the component temperature of the engine and the reactivation of the cover for the mechanical coolant pump; this in turn results in a drop in the temperature of the outflowing air which heats the interior. This complaint should no longer occur after the warm-up phase (~15 min). Not applicable. This is normal. This TSB is informational only and not applicable to any Audi Warranty.
